Experimental Study of Polyurea Protective Coating Effectiveness for Layered Composite Material Reinforced by Glass-Fiber under Impact Loading

Abstract One of the promising methods for increasing resistance polymer composite materials to high-speed impact is use protective shockproof coatings. At same time, over past two decades, polyurea have been gaining noticeable popularity among such This work devoted study effect coating 1.2 mm thickness on ballistic characteristics glass-fibre reinforced layered 8.5 thickness. During experiments thirteen targets was affected by loading in range 80…150 m/s spherical steel projectile 23.8 diameter. It shown that using can increase limit 19% mass target only 7%. Dynamic strain and displacement fields back surface obtained digital image correlation method 81.2 collision process.
